Hayes Park is a wonderful place for little and big kids to play. Please join me there. Feel free to bring a bike for the little ones to practice on there is a path that winds the park and is visible from almost all point in the “small park.” There is also a splash pad. I am not sure if that is open yet…

I will be the short blond woman in a tan hat with “Mount Rushmore” printed on it. If you can’t see that then I will also be the woman with a baby strapped to her body trying to save a toddler from jumping from what ever high point he is on. :)

Hayes Park is a wonderful place to play. Mostly enclosed and it has a great sand box. I am not sure if the water splash pad is up and running yet though...

Powhatan Springs Park – Children’s Rain Garden

The parking lot is closed on rainy days because the rain garden is attached to the skate park. However, the sidewalk access is always available and there is plenty of street parking nearby. The rain garden isn’t very big, so this is a good outing to sandwich in between a couple of errands (or at the tail end of an errand on the way home, so you won’t be about town with soaking wet kids) because it doesn’t take long to explore the whole area. It offers a lot of learning “bang” for not a lot of time “buck,” so we definitely plan to return for future visits.
