Virginia Hills Playground

The Virginia Hills Playground is located behind the Virginia Hills Administrative Center. To get to this playground, park at the Lee District REC Center (6601 Telegraph Road, Alexandria, Virginia) and head away from Telegraph Rd, past the athletic fields, and up the hill on the gravel trail. You’ll go through a small copse of trees and the playground will appear.

This cute little playground is well maintained and has a mulch surface. It’s not enclosed, but nor is it near a road. Bring a ball! The hill leading up to the playground is steep but short, so even if you are carrying a toddler or pushing a regular stroller, you should be able to make it up. It was a piece of cake for my jogging stroller. There are plenty of trees nearby for shade in summertime, and there is bench seating for the adults. Although the restrooms at the REC Center are a bit too far for potty training children, if you make sure fully trained kids go before you head up the hill, they are close enough for non- emergency situations. There is also a wheelchair accessible portolet near the parking lot.
