Windmill Hill Park

If you’ve got a kid who likes to run up the slide, take them to Windmill Hill Park to have a go at the climbing hill. In fact, climbers, clamberers, and shinniers of all descriptions will love this playground. The climbing hill separates the enclosed playground into two areas- one suitable for toddlers, and one meant for pre-K and up.

If you are trying to supervise more than one child at this playground, your best bet will be to encourage the youngest (or the one most in need of your supervision) to stay on the upper section of the playground. The top part is high enough to give you a good vantage point for the lower play structure, so you’ll be able to keep an eye on your kid and to see the lower exits to make sure they don’t leave without you.

There is a “back gate” to this playground that leads to the outside of the wall and also some bushes that keep you from being able to see what’s going on behind them, so you’ll want to be alert to that, since it’s a way for your kiddo to get out of your sight. (Check there before you panic if they do this to you.) There is also a low wall my kid HAD to walk across, and a giant hill leading down the to field that just screams “roll down me” in a frequency only children can hear.

There are no restrooms actually at Windmill Hill Park, but if you go through the “spooky tunnel” you will find a grocery store with a bathroom. I always feel obligated to buy something when I do that, but your mileage may vary.

Park surface is mulch. Playground is not shaded. Lots and lots of green space for running outside the playground area. There is also a sand volleyball area and what my kid dubbed “the spooky tunnel” in the park. All in all, Windmill Hill Park made a great family outing. Parking is on-street.
